Fresh 48 Session FAQ
When is the best time to schedule Fresh 48 sessions?
Schedule your Fresh 48 newborn session while you are still pregnant. I only take a limited amount of these type of sessions, because they are only done while you are still in the hospital. Most families complement it with a studio newborn session, as well.
Where will the photos be taken?
At the hospital, during the morning hours.
What is the difference between a Photo only and a Video+Photo session?
They are both documentary style, meaning that I won’t be posing the baby or any of you. It is more for capturing the real moments and emotions. I might guide you but I will ask you to not look at the camera most of the time.
The Photo only session includes 20 digital photos and the same are converted in black and white. These are chose by me.
The Video+Photo session includes a documentary style video of up to 3 minutes with royalty free music chosen by me. It is NOT a slideshow of photos, it is an actual video where you can hear your baby cry or yawn, or see when they kick their feet. This session also includes 15 digital photos in color, chosen by me.
What kind of clothing do we need to wear?
For the baby, anything he/she is already wearing at the hospital, either the typical white onesies or any special outfit you might have reserved for this occasion. For the Moms, maybe a nice looking pajama or robe. For the Dads, it could be jeans, a shirt but nothing with logos or wordings as it will be distracting and we want this to be timeless.
Should I bring props?
Not at all. This is not a posed session. I actually barely touch the baby. The baby will be in the bassinet and in the parent’s arms the whole time.
Can my other kids attend the session?
Of course! this is the moment you want to remember, when they meet their new sibling. It is a very exciting moment for everyone and I’d be honored to be part of such a special event in your family. I usually start with the baby and parents only in the room for half the session and then we invite the siblings to join in.
Can other family members come along to observe the session?
Only the parents/siblings should be present for the session for several reasons. Having other people in the room is distracting for you and me. I have a specific workflow I follow and sometimes they can be on the way for a smooth transition. I highly recommend that any visitors wait outside while we are in session. Grandparents usually bring the siblings in for the second half of the session and if they wish to be in some video clips or photos, they can do so at the very end. Anyone else is $25 extra per person, up to 5 people.
What is your turnaround time?
I will send your digital photos 3 weeks after your session. The video takes 4 weeks after your session.
